Having just finished Dr. Lenhardt's book, I can sincerely say it is an excellent addition the the shelves (or tablets) of both practitioners and laymen alike. He thoroughly covers many relevant issues of modern and integrative medicine in our society today, yet does so in a manner that is practical, logical and easy to grasp. Best of All Worlds examines the benefits of both alternative and mainstream therapies, as well as the potential downsides, and his recommendations are grounded in common sense and years of practical applications of allopathic medicine. I particularly liked his use of case studies to illustrate his findings, and his references to many other books and practitioners for support. Enjoyable and very well written. In inspiration for Family Physicians looking to expand the care of their patients well beyond the usual boundaries. I am particularly pleased with his positive comments about yoga. "If a person were to choose the one form of exercise with the greatest benefits, it would most certainly be yoga. I love how one type of medicine isn't glamorized over the other. The author is just trying to help patients as best he can. He's not trying to make anything flashy, just giving you his experiences and real outcomes, good or bad. I'm a third - almost fourth year medical student and this book has set the tone and made me so excited for how I want to practice medicine.
As an elderly patient of Dr. Lenhardt's for many years, I am so glad that he has shared his easy way with readers of "all worlds".
I read his book with great interest at first, because he is my doctor but continued reading because of the entertaining and informative way it was written. I learned so much without having my eyes glazed over with scientific hum-drum. I look forward to future books by this forward-looking physician/author.
This book was very educational and inspirational. I wish all doctors would view health care in this way. It definetly makes you thinks about medicine differently. We should all be proactive in our own care and really educate ourselves about what we need to do to be on a good path to being healthy. We need to be open about alternative options. I hope that other doctors around the world will view things in this way as well. I have the privledge of working with Andrew Lenhardt and he is an excellent physician and I learn so much from him every day. This book is a great example of how much change is needed in our health care system today.
I purchased the book expecting to become overwhelmed with medical terminology and over my head with the topic. Surprisingly I became enthralled with Dr. Lenhardt's approach, being very up front about what is going on in the medical field today particularly the overprescribing of anti-biotics.I highly recommend Best of All Worlds not only to people of the medical field but to all readers who have concerns about today's medicine.
Dr. Lenhardt has been my primary care physician for about 12 years, and he has always demonstrated a thoughtful and reasoned approach to every health care issue that I have experienced.
